DVD drive not showing in windows 7
Sometimes our system’s DVD drive stop showing, While the issue of CD-ROM not showing can be frustrating for the users, it can cause loss of data, disrupt normal work procedures, and so on. In the given article, we shall look at solutions to solve the issue of CD-Drive not showing.
[1] Device Manager shows Yellow Exclamation Mark on CD-Drive:
In windows 7 or earlier version of windows, when the CD or DVD drive is not seen in the File Explorer. It may happen because of a yellow exclamation point along which the device is marked within the Device Manager. Which shows no driver or issue with DVD drivers.
The above-listed issue due to the following reasons,
1. User must have upgraded the Windows Operating System
2. User must have installed or uninstalled CD or DVD Recording Software
First go to Start Manu that type command prompt (CMD) and run as Administrator
From command line you can Enable or Disable showing of DVD Drive
1.To Enable type command “reg add KLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\cdrom /t REG_DWORD /v "Start" /d 1 /f”
2.To Disable type command “reg add KLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\cdrom /t REG_DWORD /v "Start" /d 4 /f”
You can also graphically do this thing by going to Ragistry Edit option.
1. Go to RUN and type regedit command to open Registry wizard
2. From here expand registry key “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cdrom“
Double click on Start and change value 4 to 1 than restart the computer to get effect in registry.
