How to improve performance of windows 10 using ReadyBoost

If you are a user of Windows 10 computer and your computer performance is not good. you can improve performance windows 10 using ReadyBoost.if you have a USB flash drive and spare USB port on your computer then you can improve Windows 10 performance using ReadyBoost.

ReadyBoost feature inbuilt in windows 10. it is a windows program that caches files frequently use in Windows 10. It stores the cached data on USB flash drive(s) or SD memory card. 

ReadyBoost working on service SuperFetch. SuperFetch uses an algorithm to determine on windows 10 which files should be stored in the cache include system files, application files, and user documents.

When windows 10 need to access frequently used files it goes to ReadyBoost cache of the hard drive. If that file gets changed on the disk drive, it also gets changed in the cache visa versa. 

For use ReadyBoost in Windows 10 requires USB and SD memory. if in your computer have 8GB of RAM, you could create a ReadyBoost cache between 8GB to 20GB. But you use a 32GB flash drive and allocate all of it to ReadyBoost.

ReadyBoost was developed for use with Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and not for Solid State Drives (SSD).

Requirements for ReadyBoost in Windows 10

Minimum free space in flash drive/memory card: 1 GB

Maximum free spade per flash drive/memory card: 32 GB

Minimum transfer rate: 3.5 Mbit/s.


The flash drive/memory card format: NTFS

Before turn on ReadyBoost in Windows 10 first check, SuperFetch and SysMain services need to start automatically.

1. Click on Start search services.msc.

2. Double click on Services.msc for open Service.

3. When service screen open check status of SuperFetch and SysMain services 



Turn on or off ReadyBoost on Windows 10

1. Insert USB flash drive or SD memory card on your computer.

2. Press Windows key + E for Open File Explorer.


3. Right-click on USB flash drive or SD memory card that you insert for ReadyBoost and select properties.

4. On USB flash drive or SD memory properties select Readyboost. 

5. Once the system has analyzed the drive completed select "Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost.




6. Click on Apply.

7. Click on OK
