How to Turn On or Off Hardware Acceleration in Chrome

Google Chrome comes feature with hardware acceleration, hardware acceleration is a feature that allows to the browser to access the device graphics hardware to speed up processes. That feature which takes advantage of your computer’s GPU to speed up processes and free vital CPU. However, sometimes driver incompatibilities can misbehave, and disabling it could save you a few headaches.

If you are seeing menus and dialog boxes, not rendition as you expected, you can be disabling hardware acceleration to fix this issue using the following steps.

Turn On or Off Hardware Acceleration 


1. Open Chrome.

2. Click on three dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.



3. Click on Advanced from the left pane.



4. Click on System.

5. Under the “System” option, turn off the Use hardware acceleration when available switch.



6. Click on Relaunch.
