What is Credential Manager on Windows 10


On Windows 8,8.1 and Windows 10 a new feature inbuild Credential Manager. That stores your username and password information for websites apps, and networks (mapped drives or shared folders). when you check the option to save your credentials for future logins it's save in Credential Manager.

Web Credentials: The store username and password of the website that is stored are stored by windows, skype, internet explorer, and Microsoft edge.

Windows Credentials: are used by windows and their services. its store password shared folders of another computer. It also stores the password of the homegroup. next time when you access that service it automatically open. 

If you want to view and manage that username and password use the following steps. 



Add a new Windows Credentials.

1. Click on Start and search Control panel.

2. click on Control Panel for open.

3. Click on User Accounts.

4. Click on Manage Your Credential.

5. Click on Windows Credentials.

6. Click on Add new Windows Credentials.

7. Type "Internet or network address" "Username" and "password" click on Ok



Edit existing Windows Credentials.

1. Click on Start and search Control panel.

2. click on Control Panel for open.

3. Click on User Accounts.

4. Click on Manage Your Credential.

5. Click on Windows Credentials.

6. Click on a Credentials.

7. Click on Edit button.


Remove existing Windows Credentials.

1. Click on Start and search Control panel.

2. click on Control Panel for open.

3. Click on User Accounts.

4. Click on Manage Your Credential.

5. Click on Windows Credentials.

6. Click on a Credentials.

7. Click on Remove button.


8.  After clicking on Remove, you get a windows screen "Delete Windows Credential" click on Yes


Backup of existing Windows Credentials.

1. Click on Start and search Control panel.

2. click on Control Panel for open.

3. Click on User Accounts.

4. Click on Manage Your Credential.

5. Click on Windows Credentials.

6. Click on Backup Credentials. 


7. Click on Browse and give Path of where you want to save backup file and click on Next 




8. Press Ctrl +Alt and delete to continue the  backup

9. Type Password, confirm Password and click on Next

10. Now backup successfully completed.

Restore existing Windows Credentials.

1. Click on Start and search Control panel.

2. click on Control Panel for open.

3. Click on User Accounts.

4. Click on Manage Your Credential.

5. Click on Windows Credentials.

6.  Click on Restore Credentials.


7. Click on Browse and give Path of Backup file which file you want to restore (.crd file) and click on Next 





8. Press Ctrl +Alt and delete to continue the backup Restore.

9. Type Password and click on Next

10.  click on Finish

Once you completed the following steps. your all web, app, and network credentials will be restored on your Computer.
