How to Disable automatic updates on Windows 10
Microsoft has been released windows 10 in 2015. After release Microsoft forced lots of security and critical updates one after one. With Make user's system up to date provides security and enhanced performance.
However many users are irritated with these big patches which results them to consume more internet data and resource utilization.
Many fixes needs to restart the system which interrupt their daily work.
Second thing is Users need to wait for windows to finish updating before you can use the desktop.
Sometimes after update user faces blue screen death error due to bugs in updates.
So , some users prefer to not update OS and disable automatic updates on windows 10. You can Disable automatic updates on Windows 10 using following steps.
1. Click on start and select Settings.
2. When windows settings open click on Update & Security.
3. Click on Windows Update.
4. On windows update, Click on the Advanced options.
5. On Advanced options, Under the "Pause updates" sections, use the drop-down menu and select how long you want to disable updates.
Once you completed the following steps, updates for Windows 10 will be completely disabled until that day you specified.
Disable Windows Update Service
1. Press Windows key + R for Run.
2. Type services.msc and press Enter.
3. Scroll down to Windows Update, and double-click it.
4. In Startup type, select "Disabled". Then click "Apply" and "OK" to save the settings.
Disable automatic updates using Registry.
1. Click on Start and Search for regedit.
2.When result show click on Registry Editor.
3. When Registry Editor open Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows"
4. Right-click the Windows key, select the New and click on Key option.
5. Type the name of key "WindowsUpdate" and press enter.
6. Right Click on WindowsUpdate key, select the New and click on Key option.
7. Type the name of key "AU" and press enter.
8. Right Click on AU key, select the New and choose the DWORD (32-bit) Value.
9. Type the name of DWORD (32-bit) Value "NoAutoUpdate" and press enter.
10. Double click on NoAutoUpdate change the value from 0 to 1.
11. Click on OK and restart the computer.
Disable automatic updates using Group Policy
1. Click on Start and search gpedit.msc.
2. When result show click on Local Group Policy Editor.
3. When policy open navigate to "Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update"
4. On the right side double click on Configure Automatic Updates.
5. Check the Disabled option for disable automatic updates permanently.
6. Click on Apply and OK.
Once you completed the following steps restart the computer.
